The forest floor after rain. Sunlight breaking through the canopy. Ancient wings catching the light.
These earrings began as a conversation between the natural world and the jeweler's bench, and the result is nothing short of extraordinary.
At the top of each earring, a pyrite druzy commands attention, sparkling in brilliant shifting shades of copper, gold, and green, like sunlight hitting a mossy stone at the edge of a stream. It sets the stage for everything that follows.
Below, a real cicada wing is preserved in archival resin glass, every delicate vein and translucent membrane captured exactly as nature made it, suspended in time and framed in sterling silver polished and brushed to a beautiful luminous finish. Light passes through the wing from behind, illuminating all of that extraordinary natural architecture in a way that simply has to be seen to be believed.
And then the gemstones begin their conversation.
These earrings are beautifully, purposefully asymmetrical because nature herself never makes two things the same. One earring carries a carved tourmaline in pale golden honey, warm and glowing like late afternoon light, alongside a citrine that is round and smooth on top and faceted on the back, catching and throwing light in two completely different ways at once. The other holds a carved tourmaline in rich, deep red, bold and alive with color. Together they feel like two sides of the same wild story. A swirling Ethiopian opal completes the cascade on each earring, shifting and dancing with creativity and wonder in every movement.
Four fine silver beads hold each gemstone in place along delicate chains, giving these earrings a beautiful feeling of openness and movement, as if everything is floating freely, held together by something more magical than metal alone.
The sterling silver throughout has been both polished and brushed, creating a finish that is luminous without being loud, the perfect backdrop for all of that natural color and fire.
These earrings hang approximately 2¼ inches long and are 1¼ inches wide, with sterling silver ear wires keeping them light and wearable despite all of their glorious drama.
This is jewelry for the woman who carries the forest with her wherever she goes.
