About  Laura Stamper

“The antidote to ordinary"

If this is your first time visiting, you are probably a lover of art who is fascinated with the magic of nature.  It is likely you have a vivid imagination and have maintained your childlike awe of the world around you.

My name is Laura Stamper and my vision is to infuse your world with beauty and a sense of playfulness, offering a respite from life's challenges and adding joy to your everyday experiences.  I do this one piece of art jewelry at a time.

From the very beginning, art has been the driving force in my life. As a child, I couldn't resist the urge to draw; paper seemed to disappear under my hands, and even the walls bore witness to my early artistic passion.

Eventually my mother bought me a chalkboard so that I could erase and draw and never run out of space! Fast forward to my college years, where I delved into the world of painting as a minor, specializing in figurative work, with a particular fascination for portraying the intricate nuances of portraits and the beauty of animals.

My artistic journey took an unexpected turn when I stumbled upon the enchanting world of sculpture. Porcelain became my canvas, and my creations adorned themselves with original images, transforming into captivating pieces of art in their own right. It was during this phase that I began to experiment with miniatures, a transition that would ultimately lead me to the realm of jewelry design.

In 1996, I embarked on a transformative journey, enrolling in an intensive course under the guidance of a master goldsmith. It was here that I discovered the mesmerizing art of metalsmithing. With newfound skills and a heart brimming with creativity, I blended my porcelain miniatures with exquisite gemstones and precious metals, giving birth to a unique and enchanting jewelry collection.

As you know, life's journey is full of unexpected twists, and in 2017, I faced a profound loss when my beloved husband passed away.

Along with the grieving process came the need for a significant change in my life. I made the difficult decision to bid farewell to our cherished home, which had also housed my beloved studio.

In doing so, I had to part with my ceramic kilns, a symbolic downsizing that marked a new chapter in my creative endeavors.

Resilience and adaptability have always been my guiding principles. With the same passion that fueled my early artistic endeavors, I found a natural progression in translating my intricate and captivating work into enamels.

This evolution allows me to continue sharing my artistry with the world, capturing the essence of my paintings, sculptures, and metalsmithing in wearable forms of art. At Laura Stamper Designs, each piece of jewelry is more than just an accessory; it's a testament to a lifetime of artistic exploration and an embodiment of my enduring love for art. I invite you to explore my collections, each telling a unique story, and I hope you find a piece that resonates with your own journey.
