Ever seen those amazing statement rings with a stone set inside of another stone? Well it’s not as hard as it looks. This class is great for all skill levels, even beginners. Students will gain experience in a variety or jewelry skills including design, lapidary, soldering, prong setting and tube setting. Laura will provide a wide selection of stones to choose from including ammonites, dendrite opal, aquamarine, bumble bee jasper and more. Students will be notified of optional tools they can bring once registered for class.
Statement rings that are dimensional need not be heavy. In this workshop, students will learn to create 3 dimensional statements rings with a fancy rose cut stone set on top of a hollow box. We will focus on skill that include jewelry design, granulation, bezels and bezel setting, soldering and finishing techniques. If you have never made a hollow ware piece, this is the perfect introduction to gain experience in that skill set. Laura will have a variety of rose cut stone for student to choose from to create their perfect one of a kind box ring. Students should have some prior experience working with a torch and soldering to enroll in this workshop. Students will be notified of optional tools they can bring once registered for class.
This fun class is a great introduction to a technique of enameling with a torch. Adding enameled components to your jewelry designs adds new and exciting elements to your jeweler’s vocabulary. Students will learn basic torch fired enameling, by sifting and creating graphite designs. Once the design is created, class members will learn to add 24k gold leaf to embellish their works. You need no prior experience with enameling of working with a torch to take this class. All you need is a spirit of adventure!
What’s better than turning something old into something beautiful and new? In this class, student will pay special attention to jewelry design and gain experience in jewelry skills including, simple lapidary, piercing, sawing, making bezels for unusual shapes, granulation, and soldering. Class members will will have a varied selection of suitable china pieces for this project. Students should have some prior experience working with a torch and soldering to enroll in this workshop. Students will be notified of optional tools they can bring once registered for class.
This is a great class for all levels of students. Even though we will be exploring several jewelry making skills, no prior experience is necessary for this class. Champleve’ is an enameling technique where the colored enamels are melted into the recessed area of a design. Laura will provide student s with the choice of a bee, beetle or moth to enamel. Students will gain experience in piercing, sawing, sweat soldering and enameling with a torch. Each student will complete the class with a finished enameled piece either ready to set in silver or simply add to a jump ring to make a pendant or charm.
