Classes
Going forward with classes, I want to ensure my students are as safe as possible. I will be teaching in person in Santa Fe in March. I have been vaccinated and have received my booster for Covid 19. I will require all of my students to bring proof of vaccination or a recent (within 48 hours) negative Covid test. I will also have masks available. So many of us have been personally affected by this pandemic, I feel this is the most responsible and considerate way to move forward in the "new normal" .

Hollow Box Ring with Rose Cut Stone
Statement rings that are dimensional need not be heavy. In this workshop, students will learn to create 3 dimensional statements rings with a fancy rose cut stone set on top of a hollow box. We will focus on skill that include jewelry design, granulation, bezels and bezel setting, soldering and finishing techniques. If you have never made a hollow ware piece, this is the perfect introduction to gain experience in that skill set. Laura will have a variety of rose cut stone for student to choose from to create their perfect one of a kind box ring. Students should have some prior experience working with a torch and soldering to enroll in this workshop. Students will be notified of optional tools they can bring once registered for class.

Torch Fired Graphite and Gold on Enamel
This fun class is a great introduction to a technique of enameling with a torch. Adding enameled components to your jewelry designs adds new and exciting elements to your jeweler’s vocabulary. Students will learn basic torch fired enameling, by sifting and creating graphite designs. Once the design is created, class members will learn to add 24k gold leaf to embellish their works. You need no prior experience with enameling of working with a torch to take this class. All you need is a spirit of adventure!

This is the perfect class for beaders who would like to try their hand at silversmithing. Students will design and make a one of a kind focal toggle, using a slice from an agate geode. Basic fabrication techniques will be taught including an intro to non traditional stone setting skills and soldering techniques and simple embellishments.
